Flippin’ good fun at Flip Out Somerset in Wellington
Mia and Felix have a trampoline in the garden but sometimes you need a bit of indoor entertainment (especially on a soaking wet Saturday in November!). So I took them along to Flip Out Somerset which is located in Wellington, only 25 minutes from Halsbeer just off Junction 26 of the M5. It didn’t disappoint.
Flip Out opened earlier this year and is housed in a massive warehouse done out in funky lime green, purple and grey with superhero comic book-style graffiti adorning the walls. The huge space can absorb a lot of people and has a viewing gallery and large cafe seating area.
The jumping arena has a great obstacle course area a bit like you see on Ninja Warrior- or Wipeout-style game shows. A long run trampoline is good for tumbling. Felix loved it because he was allowed to do forward flips which has wasn’t at i-bounce. Jumpers are advised to bounce at their own ability and there are lots of different areas for different ages to enjoy safely.
Both Mia and Felix really loved it and two hours flew by with a short interlude for a slushie. Felix was impressed by the size of the place, calling it “humungous” while Mia said it was “really good, way better than i-bounce” (the one in Newton Abbott – we’ve not been to the Exeter one)”.
I have a few top tips to make sure you get the maximum bounce for your bucks:
Top tip number 1. Although you have to wear Flip Out’s own green socks when in the arena (apparently for insurance purposes as they are the only ones to be tested on their trampolines) you can get a free swop if you turn up with trampoline socks from another trampoline park such as AirHop or i bounce thus saving yourself £2 per pair.
Top tip number 2. I booked online and got a BOGOF – two hours for the price of one – even on a Saturday. That worked out at £9.95 per child for two hours of bouncing which I think is good value.
Top tip number 3. Visit on a Wednesday and two bounce for the price of one.
Top tip number 4. Consider taking some earplugs along!!
