Kentisbeare Post Office
The local village shop is only a mile and a half away in the beautiful village of Kentisbeare. It sells a range of local products including milk, eggs, bread, cakes, jams, salad and vegetables. They also stock meat from our award winning local butcher, Veyseys of Cullompton. The pigs are reared free range on land at Orway very close to Halsbeer Farm. Ask Katie and she can direct you so you can go and see them rooting around. Newspapers can be reserved on request and a full post office service is available.

Our nearest and newest farm shop, Fordmore, is on the A373 between Post Cross (the turning out of Kentisbeare) and Cullompton. Look out for it on the left as you head towards the town. It sells local produce including fresh fruit and veg and free range meat along with bread, milk, ready made desserts, great shortcut ideas like pavlova bases, roasting kits including stuffing/gravy etc and lots more. There are some great foodie gifts too. Check out their Christmas ordering on their website too.
Mole Valley Farmers
This large farm shop and farmers supply store now also stocks COOK frozen ready meals so it's a great place to stop if you don't fancy cooking while on holiday but you do want to eat well. They also have a good range of fresh cakes and other sweet treats, cheeses, meats and more. You can find them just before Cullompton on the right.
Our local award winning butcher on Cullompton High Street. They have parking behind if you need it, or you can park on the High Street and walk along. I love that they have a board outside stating the provenance of all of that week's meat so you can see just how local it is. They are also great for BBQ supplies, stocking a huge range of burgers and marinated meats. And in season delights such as venison. They also deliver next day if you order by 12pm. Dart's Farm on the outskirts of Topsham is an award-winning farm shop, restaurant and much more. All the goods sold in the shop are locally produced. It also has an extensive shopping village including homewares, clothing, toys, bird watching gadgetry etc.

Greendale Farm Shop is a good place to stop if you have been in Exmouth or Sidmouth. It has animals you can look at outside and inside the most amazing fresh fish counter including live lobster and crab and an extensive range of gorgeous groceries. Well worth a visit.

Award winning Farmers' Market held on the second Saturday of each month from 9.30am-12.30pm on Cullompton High Street. All of the stall holders at the market have travelled less than 30 miles and are selling produce they grew, reared or created themselves. The markets have a unique atmosphere helped with local musicians and children’s activities. Cullompton Farmers’ Market was the first farmers' market to be started in the South West and has been held in Cullompton since 1998. There is a fish van in Cullompton and stalls selling eggs, honey etc on Wednesday mornings at the Bull Ring on the High Street.

Devon-based Riverford Organics can deliver veg boxes or you might like to visit their award-winning restaurant near Buckfastleigh.
Our closest pub and easily walkable along the lanes, the Wyndham is welcoming and homely and serves a large menu of food including some fantastic specials and traditional Sunday roast. Large pub garden. Roughly one and a half mile walk.
The Ashill Inn is a 30 minute walk from Halsbeer Farm and well worth the journey. Expect great food in this cosy village pub but be sure to book ahead.
This quirkily decorated pub offers a wonderful and always changing selection of local ales and ciders. It's a great place to sit back with one of the landlords dogs or even your own after a walk along the River Culm. The Culm Valley serves fantastic locally sourced food on a menu that changes daily. Head to the beautiful thatched Keepers Cottage for proper country food washed down with a pint of local ale. This friendly local pub is situated just out of Kentisbeare on the main road to Honiton. It's a good 40 minute walk from the farm but with portions fit for the hardest working of farmers it's guaranteed not to leave you hungry.
The Drewe Arms is a lovely pub that's just within walking distance (5 miles) if you fancy a bit of a jaunt. It has a delightful garden and is open every day, serving meals and bar snacks. Situated in the picturesque thatched village of Broadhembury.
The Pig at Coombe is a relaxed Elizabethan Manor in Gittisham near Honiton that serves outstanding local food in a beautiful country location. Restaurant facilities are available to non-residents but it is worth booking ahead. There is the main restaurant in the house or a pavilion in the gardens that serves flatbread pizzas.

The River Cottage Canteen and Deli in Axminster's Trinity Square is a great place for a snack or a proper lunch. It's an award-winning restaurant and uses local, seasonal food. Originally transformed by owner and celebrity chef Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall the Canteen has come a long way with head chef Sam Rom. Don't forget to book ahead for the restaurant!
Cullompton has a range of takeaways that will more than satisfy your hunger including Chinese, Indian, pizza and fish & chips. You can find menus in your visitor info packs in the cottages.
If you're planning something special for your time here at Halsbeer Farm or are going to be entertaining a big crowd in the conservatory perhaps you will need a caterer. Whether it's a celebration dinner or finger food you're after our local caterers will be able to provide for your needs.
We can provide authentic Spanish paella for groups numbering between 16 and 22 people, cooked fresh on site in our proper paella pan. Ingredients can be tailored to your tastes and can be vegetarian, meat or fish-based or a combination of all three. Our favourite recipe is chicken, chorizo and prawn with red peppers and peas. Prices start from £8 per adult (£4 per child). We can also provide celebration cakes, pavlovas and the hire of a raclette machine and ingredients for raclette for up to 8 people. We recommend Field to Fork Catering who cooked an amazing Moroccan banquet for 26 for a guest’s 70th birthday celebration. They also provide hog roasts and a whole host of other delicious menus.
We were lucky to sample a six course menu by pop up restaurant chef Rob Dawe recently. A meal catered by him in our gorgeous conservatory for a special occasion would be very special indeed.
