EATING OUT near halsbeer farm

Pubs

You will find a fantastic selection of pubs within easy reach of Halsbeer Farm. We recommend calling before you visit to check opening times and availability to avoid disappointment.

The Ashill Inn - a thirty minute walk or five minute drive away is this quaint little village inn serves a small but perfectly formed menu of locally sourced seasonal food. Be sure to book ahead as it's only tiny. Recommended recently by guests for Sunday lunch. 01884 840506

The Culm Valley Inn - perfectly situated for a post-walk lunch next to the River Culm and Culmstock's beautiful historic bridge. Fifteen minutes by car. Lovely river walking to Uffculme or up to the Beacon. Food is usually good. 01884 840354

The Drewe Arms - a historic coaching in with a beautiful pub garden in the chocolate box thatched village of Broadhembury about a fifteen minute drive away. Delicious well-cooked food. Can be walked to if you like a good stomp. It's about 5km. Ask Katie for a walking route. 01404 841267

Keepers Cottage Inn - this attractive thatched pub is situated just out of Kentisbeare on the A373 in the direction of Honiton. It's a good forty minute walk from the farm but with portions fit for the hardest working of farmers it's guaranteed not to leave you hungry. There is a big car park if you prefer to drive. 01884 266247

The Wyndham Arms in Kentisbeare  - our closest pub and easily walkable along the lanes, the Wyndham is nice for a drink out front or in the courtyard garden behind, however its food is not the best and the interior is a bit tired. If you want to eat we think other options are better. They do have a large screen inside which often shows sports. Roughly one and a half mile walk. 01884 266238

The Half Moon Inn in Clayhidon - very atmospheric pub with delicious food. 01823 680291

The Merry Harriers at Westcott - traditional pub grub including Sunday roasts.01392 881254

restaurants

If you are looking for something really special for a celebration look no further than these exquisite offerings.

The Pig at Combe - part of the Pig hotel chain, this is a relaxed Elizabethan manor in Gittisham near Honiton that serves outstanding local food in a beautiful country location. Restaurant facilities are available to non-residents but you are advised to book ahead. The main restaurant is in the house, but there is also a folly in the garden serving rustic flatbreads. Private dining is also available in the Georgian kitchen. Simply stunning. 01404 540400

River Exe Cafe - a very different dining experience, park up at Exmouth and hop on the river taxi which will whisk you up the River Exe estuary to this floating restaurant with 360 degree views of the water and countryside. Booking is essential and you must book a river taxi as well as a table! 07761 116103

The Lost Kitchen - fabulous eatery in Chettiscombe just outside Tiverton, near to one of the entrances onto the National Trust's Knightshayes estate. Fabulous indoors or out (dogs only allowed outside on the terrace). Innovative, seasonal wood-fired food. 01884 24 24 27
