We are hurtling towards the summer holidays at a rate of knots. We are nearly fully booked in our self-catering cottages but there are a few gaps if you haven't yet arranged a vacation and would like to get away this summer. Stunning Swallow Barn (sleeps 6, pictured below) is available for the first week of the main school holidays from Friday 21st July for 7 nights. There are a few local attractions and events on that weekend which may be of interest - the popular Mid-Devon Show is at National Trust Knightshayes on Saturday 22nd July and Bridwell Park's Artisan and Maker's Market is on Sunday 23rd July. Swallow Barn is also available for a week from 18th August. Like Cider Cottage, Swallow Barn is accessible to those with reduced mobility in having a ground floor double bedroom with ensuite wet room. Both accommodations also have a first floor master bedroom with kingsize four poster and ensuite and a twin with ensuite. Cosy Cider Cottage (pictured above, also sleeps 6) is available for seven nights from 4th August, 18th August and 25th August. The astute among you will spot that means it is available for a fortnight's stay over the August Bank Holiday Monday which this year falls on the 28th. If you book for 14 nights from 18th August a 5% discount will automatically be applied to your stay. Apple Cottage has availability for 7 nights from 25th August, so over the Bank Holiday. Apple is our smallest cottage with a double bedroom and small single with shared bathroom. Perfect for a family of three or a family of four with an infant in a cot, which we can provide if you need (the cot that is, not the infant!). High chairs also available, just ask when booking. Keep the kids busy this summer Devon With Kids is a really hand resource to find things to do in Devon while on holiday. Here is their run down of What's On in August but also has links to attractions open throughout the year so it's useful anytime really. One of our nearest attractions, the Maize Maze at Orway Porch Farm just down the road opens to the public this year on 28th July and is open til 3rd September. Remember though you don't have to go far to keep the children busy - we have an indoor heated pool on site along with a games room with table tennis, pool, table football and myriad toys, games, puzzles and books. If you can't spare a full week during the holidays spare a thought for our yurts at Blackdown Yurts. We have a scattering of four night midweek stays remaining. Woodpecker (sleeps 6) 24th July, Willow (sleeps 4) 31st July, Willow and Woodpecker 14th August, Badger (sleeps 6), Willow and Woodpecker 21st August. Please note guests staying at the yurts do not have access to the facilities of Halsbeer Farm, instead they have a communal barn and a big field to play in. *Stays during the summer holidays start from £33 per person per night based on full occupancy of each cottage. Full details of pricing and availability can be found on our website or please ask Katie for more information.
