With the approach of February half term my mind begins to turn to the next school holiday in April. The Easter holidays will soon be upon us so I thought it might be helpful to give a run down of remaining availability for April in our self-catering holiday accommodation in beautiful Mid-Devon. (Other months are available too!) Our Devon holiday cottages provide a home-from-home experience with the added benefit of a heated indoor swimming pool, games room and light and bright conservatory for all of our guests to use. Situated in a secluded, rural valley in the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Three of our four cottages are disabled friendly, with level access to the living area and a ground floor bedroom with recently refurbished ensuite shower wet room. Perfect for families with a wheelchair user, or someone unable to cope with stairs any more. Our holiday cottages are ideal for couples, small families or larger family or friend groups. We have a lot of multi-generation vacationers with parents and children using the upstairs bedrooms and grandparents the downstairs ones. Or families taking more than one cottage. Apple is ideal for grandparents wanting a bit more privacy and peace and quiet for example. Easter availability Cider Cottage (pictured below, sleeps up to 6) is available from Good Friday (15th April for a week). Apple Cottage (sleeps 3), Cider and Hay Barn (sleeps 7) have short midweek stays of four nights available from Monday 4th April. If you are able to travel outside of school holidays then Apple, Cider and Swallow Barn are all currently available week of the 22nd of April. To check availability and to book see our Book Now page or each individual cottage webpage. Retreats at Halsbeer Farm and Blackdown Yurts A fabulous local friend of mine Elle has rented the entire cottage complex at the start of April and again at the end of October to host wellness and spiritual retreats with her friend Becky and husband Dave. At the time of writing there are just two twin rooms remaining for the three night Spiritual Retreat at the cottages from 1st April. The Samhain Retreat is for four nights from 28th October, over Halloween. For full details see Crystals by Serendipity's website. All enquiries and retreat bookings to go via Elle please. Elle has also rented our yurts and barn at Blackdown Yurts at the other end of the farm later in April and there may be more dates forthcoming in both cottages and yurts in September and October. Elle sells all sorts of crystals and well-being goodies, including monthly subscription boxes, online for delivery from her website Crystals by Serendipity. Do take a look. Painting holidays at Halsbeer Farm Back by popular demand are our painting courses with the same tutors as last year. Local artist Julie Dunster will teach en plein air oil painting on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd July 2022 with an optional painting demonstration with tapas supper on the evening of Friday 1st July. Sidmouth-based Lynda Kettle will teach three days of watercolour landscapes from Tuesday 5th to Thursday 7th July inclusive with an optional afternoon/evening visit to Sidmouth Society of Artists' Summer Exhibition at Kennaway House in Sidmouth on the Thursday. Both courses are available on a residential or non-residential basis. Spaces are already becoming limited for Lynda's watercolour course so book soon by contacting Katie by email or phone. Further information available on our painting holiday webpage.
